Chilling (burrrr!) in December

December 29, 2016

What a busy, yet fun month December has been! We started off visiting Santa at the community’s log cabin and enjoyed some cookies while we were there. The girls each got to take home a little bear and had fun dressing-up, of course, which was the highlight of the night.  They looked so sweet in their Christmas dresses!

Maddie was a little nervous to sit on Santa's lap, but Sarah hopped right up!

Phil missed out on this one but we also had breakfast with Santa with Maddie and Sarah’s best friends, Kaelum, Melannie and Jacob.  We have been missing them since the weather has gotten colder and we haven’t had as much of an opportunity to have playdates.  Hopefully that changes after the holidays!

The following week was not quite as fun as the two prior as Maddie was hit first by a bad case of the stomach flu.  I came down with it shortly thereafter, then Sarah caught it briefly before passing on a fever and some chills to Phil.  We are so glad that that is behind us and we were well enough for Christmas!

We loved playing in the snow on the "warmer" days

We sled down a tiny little hill in the backyard. The kids loved it.

And Maddie got her first hair cut!!! She did such an amazing job. I'm so proud of how brave she was.

As usual, we headed to the Molinari’s for Christmas eve and ate my dad’s AMAZING lasagna.  We had such a nice time playing with all of Maddie and Sarah’s cousins and just enjoying our family’s company. The kids especially loved all their new presents!

Christmas day was held at our house and we loved the entire experience.  We opened gifts as a family early in the morning and then got to preparing for dinner.  We made a turkey and all the typical Thanksgiving-type sides and definitely feasted on all the amazing desserts courtesy of Danielle and Grandma Rumproast.

And if that wasn’t enough fun for the season, we headed off to the Pheasant Run Inn for a two night stay with Phil’s family.  Phil’s dad and Carin did a really fantastic job planning out all the details, treating us to free meals, drinks and snacks, having games for us to play and crafts for the kids and just a general sense of refreshment.  We are so grateful for their generosity in hosting the whole family for this special event!

An onward we go into 2017! We are looking forward to a New Year filled with hope and love. We really enjoyed 2016 (most of it!) and feel so blessed after such a wonderful year and can’t wait to see what the Lord holds for us in the future.  Happy New Year everyone!
