Finger Foods and Swinging into Spring

Friday, April 12, 2013

We had such a nice week.  Well, it had its tough moments, but overall it was great.  Saturday and Sunday was wonderful. The weather was beautiful, so Phil and I took Mads for a walk a couple of times and we went to the park, too.  Maddie L.O.V.E.S swinging so much.  She is going to be a little daredevil as she grows up! We took her down the slide, too, which I’m not sure if she really understands since she was sitting on our laps.  We also brought her into out backyard and sat her in the grass for the first time.  She was really interested in it and kept picking pieces up and just looking at them.  Well, she tried to eat a little here and there, but we put the kabosh on her choking on a stick or something pretty quickly.
Look at those teeth!
Swinging is her new favorite thing.
Daddy and Maddie enjoying the weather in our backyard.

"Ooooh! Look at this grass.  So interesting. I wonder what it tastes like."
Maddie is rolling around all over the place now.  I wouldn’t say that she is quite travelling, yet, but she will roll onto her tummy, then onto her back successively in the same direction to retrieve a toy. She’s still far from crawling, but she’s more and more active as time goes by.  I try so hard not to worry about her reaching her milestones, but it’s hard not to focus on it!

Little punk.  She reminds me of my niece, Jaidyn, in this picture.
Madelynn has become such a good little eater now.  Where she is lacking in gross motor skill capabilities, she makes up with her fine motor skills.  She’s got that pincer grasp down like it’s nobody’s business! She is so good at picking up finger foods and seems to love feeding herself!

"Put the camera away. I am trying to eat here."
And another exciting update is Maddie’s ability to say dada! She repeats it over and over and we just love to hear it all the time.

Our family.
My nephew, Dylan’s, first birthday party is this weekend, so we are really looking forward to celebrating with my family.  I bought him some cute outfits because, as a mother, I now understand that you can never have too much clothes for these dirty, little monsters  we call children.  It was so fun picking out boy clothes for a change.  All the little overalls and button down shirts and khaki shorts.  So cute!
