Well, here's a recap of our past month or so: so much has happened, but I will try to keep it concise (in the interest of me being able to take a shower before Maddie (my 18 month old! wowza!)wakes up.

| 18 months old! |
We have gotten tons of snow this year, but it has been so clod that we haven't been able to play in it very much. Plus, Maddie is kind of stiff in her bulky snow outfit and can't move around very easily. Nonetheless, we ventured into the front yard one day and made a snow man. I think Phil and I had more fun than Maddie did. Haha
 |
| "Are you two done rolling snow into balls, yet? I've been standing here unable to move and just want to go inside." |
 |
| The finished product. |
She is really moving around like crazy now! She loves to climb on everything and has figured out how to throw her leg up and climb onto the couch. No more containing her in one space in the basement. I have to watch intently to make sure she doesn't escape, now. I love watching her explore her own movements, though. She seems to really enjoy trying to jump and getting into the downward facing dog yoga position. She does this all the time and we flip her over into a summersault. So, we thought gymnastics would be a good idea.....

| Olympics 2030, here we come. |
...bad idea. Maddie isn't quite ready for it. When we brought her to the gym, it was sensory overload to the extreme. She just was not ready to jump into the obstacle course with the rest of the kids who all seemed to be at least a year older. We decided to wait 6 months and then try again.
Maddie is saying new words every day! I can't even keep up with writing them all down. I love her little voice so much. Sometimes it sounds like she strings together sentences, so we "interpret" her words. It's pretty funny what it sounds like she says sometimes (and Phil and I often come up with the same interpretations). "This is this!" is one of our favorites. When you do something that she thinks is particularly fun or exciting, like, say, put a big huge bow on her head, she exclaims, "This is THIS!" as though telling us, "are you guys seeing THIS? This is THIS!!!!! This is where it's at!" It cracks us up.
Maddie also got really sick for the first time every with the stomach flu. I woke her up saturday morning to go somewhere and she had thrown up raspberries all over her crib and gone back to sleep. I called for Phil because I was terrified and thought it was blood. Oh, it was so scary. Her illness stretched out all the way through the following Tuesday, which included throwing up on our friends' couch during the Super Bowl. Sorry! :( She's better now, though, and back to her silly self.

| Hanging out watching Pocahontas, while little sick Mads gets over the tummy flu. (By the way, Maddie pronounces tummy "tubby". hehe) |
Let's see, I was able to spend some fun times out with my friends this past week. I spent the night with my friend, Erica (I LOVE HER!) to see her dad's annual play, which was hilarious this year, and then we met up with Connie afterwards to celebrate her 30th birthday. It was such a great night and nice to get out for a little while.
I have been crafting a lot recently, too. Here's a couple of my projects:
 |
| Fo valentines day: wood, hot glue and hundreds of buttons! |
 |
| A gift I made for a friend who is having a little girl next month. Inside is a.... |
 |
| .....homemade, burlap growth chart with some tags that you can pin onto it and record the baby's measurements. I also made her a nursing cover (seen below the growth chart) |
 |
| I liked it so much that, upon exclaiming, "This is THIS," I made another one for Maddie and hung it in her room. |
